Enhanced Assessment Instruments Grants

The USDOE's Student Achievement and School Accountability Program offers Grants for Enhanced Assessment Instruments (EAI). The purpose of the program is to enhance the quality of assessment instruments and systems used by states for measuring the achievement of all students. Proficiency on state assessments, required under Title I, Part A of the ESEA is the primary indicator in the ESEA of student academic achievement and, hence, the primary measure of states' success in meeting the goals of No Child Left Behind. Measured Progress participates in six funded projects addressing the grant priorities of accommodations and alternate assessments, collaborative efforts, and dissemination beyond the original grantee or grant collaborative. The awards have ranged from $723,000 to $1,058,000 for the 18-month projects.
