State-Wide Assessments for General Education
Since 1983, Measured Progress has helped 30 states create innovative, psychometrically sound assessments for students in grades three through eight and high school. One of the first assessment companies to develop and score open-response, writing, and performance items, the company continues to measure students' mastery of the standards in innovative ways.
Because each assessment is customized to the needs of the client, Measured Progress develops multiple item types and test designs for states and districts that assess knowledge in English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and technology. Item types included in assessments are:
- Multiple-choice
- Short-answer
- Constructed-response
- Extended-response
- Performance events
- Individually administered tests
- Portfolios
Measured Progress understands that clients look for economical solutions, while they still desire a rigorous test that accurately reflects what students know and can do. In response, the company has facilitated multi-state consortia, such as the New England Common Assessment, which serves Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. By building tests based on the same standards, state departments of education can save money without sacrificing the rigors of their assessment programs.
